OnePlus has released a small, incremental update for the OnePlus 7T. OxygenOS 10.0.15 is available for the Global variant of the device, though we’d expect the other variants won’t be far behind. There’s relatively little to report this time, though it does bring Google Security Updates right up to date with November 2020’s patches. There are a few system fixes to mention though – the status bar has been tweaked so there’s less chance of irritating in-call button presses. Also in the phone app, the problem of the app popping up and then force closing a moment later (’flashback’) has been resolved. Finally, Google Mobile Services (i.e. the stock Google apps) have been updated to August 2020, which might claw back a few megabytes of user-accessible storage.
We’d expect there to be almost no difference between the regional versions of this update when they arrive. There’s no sign of an equivalent update for the OnePlus 7T Pro variants including the T-Mobile exclusive Pro 5G, or the 12GB RAM sporting McLaren Edition, but we’d expect to see details of them in the coming days. We also expect similar updates to roll out for the OnePlus 7 series as well.
When we reviewed the OnePlus 7T, we loved it and when its successor the OnePlus 8 arrived, we still slightly favored the earlier device. There’s little doubt it’s a fine phone and with Black Friday around the corner, there’s likely to be chances to grab one at a bargain price, assured in the knowledge that it’s still getting (reasonably) timely updates, including Android 11, which is expected in the first quarter of 2021.
