i just got samsung gal5,s planner gives me troble

hi there,
i click on s planner,after it opens, top left corner only shows "today" and can not be chanched, touching it should show drop down menu but only makes little sound and nothing else happens. i can not enter more options like repet weekly or monthly. does anyone know what to do?
